I was out shooting an amazing sunset southeast of Crested Butte, Colorado when a friend called to say that there was snow on the Maroon Bells. We made a spur of the moment decision to drive the three and a half hours to the Aspen area, capture the Milky Way over the mountains, sleep in our cars for a couple of hours, and be back out to shoot sunrise by 5am. Though not planned, it turned out to be well worth the sleepless hours to photograph this and other spectacular views.
