Lost Creek Autumn
Lost Creek Autumn
Lost Creek is a small channel that empties into the Pend Oreille River in Northeastern Washington state. While driving down the road with the day fading rapidly, I saw this classic wooden railroad bridge spanning the creek. The fog was rolling in and there was nearly no light left in the sky so I had to work quickly. The biggest challenge in capturing this shot was not the light of day (or lack thereof) but the lights of truck headlights bearing down on me as I stood on the edge of a bridge. It seemed that every time I got setup to take the shot, another large vehicle would appear on the road. I'd have to hurriedly grab my gear and scamper to the other side of the bridge, assuming no traffic was oncoming in that lane, or run off the bridge altogether. For those that remember the classic 80's video game Frogger, it was kind of like that. But at night. It took me about a dozen tries before I finally got the perspective that I was looking for.
